Candle packaging specification guide

How to Specify a Candle Tin Before Wax-Fill Testing

A tin format is only the packaging starting point for a candle. The approved vessel must be evaluated with the real wax, fragrance, wick, fill level and use conditions. Use this guide to define the container interface and responsibility split before Junmei provides samples or plans a custom direction.

01

Define the candle format and intended use.

State whether the project is a travel candle, scented range, gift set, sample or promotional collection. Provide the target wax fill, expected finished candle dimensions, lid use, retail environment and target market.

Junmei commonly supplies empty tins. The candle producer controls wax filling, wick placement, curing, labeling and finished-product use instructions unless another scope is explicitly agreed.

02

Size usable volume with fill and top clearance.

Outside dimensions do not prove a safe wax weight or burn result. Seams, rolled edges, base geometry and lid engagement affect usable space. The planned fill level should leave appropriate top clearance for the wick, lid and handling process.

Send the candle maker’s fill target, wick arrangement and samples or drawings. Junmei can compare current molds and supply sample tins for the candle factory’s fill and burn evaluation.

03

Select the lid and structure around handling.

Round slip-lid and other project-suitable structures can be reviewed for engagement, removal and surface contact. The lid is normally used for storage and presentation, not while the candle is burning.

Final lid fit, edge condition, stacking and packing are checked on the selected structure. No closure name by itself proves a heat, flame or formula result.

04

Review the interior interface without assuming formula compatibility.

Junmei can evaluate tinplate, interior finish and the packaging interface for the intended candle project. However, wax, fragrance, dye, additives, wick and processing conditions can affect heat behavior and material interaction.

Formula compatibility, migration or staining behavior, burn safety and finished-candle stability must be validated by the customer, candle factory or qualified testing partner using the real formulation.

05

Keep burn and heat testing with the finished candle system.

Junmei can provide sample tins or send them to the customer’s candle factory for testing. The candle maker should conduct appropriate fill trials, wick selection, burn tests and heat evaluation for the complete product under intended conditions.

Junmei does not treat an empty-tin inspection as proof that a finished candle is safe. Test methods, sample conditioning and acceptance criteria are agreed with the responsible product team.

06

Plan decoration and packing around the vessel.

CMYK or Pantone spot-color printing, varnish, metallic effects, embossing and debossing are reviewed against formed areas, lid movement and handling contacts. Critical warnings and product-use information are supplied and approved by the responsible brand or candle producer.

Individual protection, carton dividers and orientation help prevent print rubbing or denting. Project-specific drop or vibration checks can be defined for the packed tins, separate from finished-candle burn validation.

07

Send the vessel and testing brief together.

MOQ

Starts from 3,000 pieces. Final MOQ depends on size, structure, printing, artwork versions, packing and tooling.

Samples

Typically ready in 3–7 working days after specifications and artwork are confirmed. Candle-factory fill/burn testing is a separate project stage and may change the final structure or schedule.

Bulk Production

Typically about 25 days after required tin sample or artwork approval and order confirmation. Finished-candle production and testing time are not included.

Send the wax-fill target, formula category, wick arrangement, top clearance, preferred tin and lid, artwork, quantity, target market, candle-factory testing plan, packing and delivery requirements. Junmei will identify what still requires vessel fit, interior-interface, tooling, packing or sample confirmation.
