Cookie packaging selection guide
How to Specify a Custom Cookie Tin Before Sampling
An outside tin size or a target cookie count is not a complete packaging specification. Cookie dimensions, thickness, layout, layers, liner or insert and headspace all affect the internal space required. Use the current catalog as a format shortlist, then validate the packout with your cookie, drawing or finished inner pack.
Define the cookie and packout first.
Send the cookie or biscuit length and width, or diameter, plus thickness, shape, target piece count and whether the surface is fragile, coated or decorated. State whether the cookies will be arranged in one layer, stacked, packed in multiple layers or combined as an assortment.
Cookies can be packed in direct contact with the tin, inside an inner bag, with greaseproof paper or a liner, in paper trays or cups, or with a custom liner. The arrangement is selected for the product, presentation and customer requirements; material, coating and documents are then reviewed for the intended use and market.
Confirm capacity from the internal layout, not the outside size.
Product-card dimensions describe the outside of the container. Curling, lid engagement, corner radii, liners, trays, dividers and working clearance reduce the usable internal space.
Do not assume one external size always holds a fixed number of cookies. Send a physical sample, product drawing, proposed arrangement or finished inner-pack dimensions. Junmei can review layer height, headspace and packout before capacity is confirmed.
Shape, depth & lid
Match the structure to the selling format.
Round tins suit classic presentations and circular or stacked arrangements. Square and rectangular tins support regular rows, layered assortments and different shelf or carton footprints. Special shapes can create a seasonal gift concept but need closer forming, artwork, internal-layout and tooling review.
Depth affects layer count and product removal. Lid behavior, repeated opening, stacking or set requirements are confirmed with the selected structure rather than inferred from shape alone.
Classic presentation with a continuous print surface.
Regular panel layouts and alternative shelf, packout and carton footprints.
Distinctive seasonal presentation with closer tooling and internal-layout review.
Depth, lid engagement, repeated use, stacking and multi-tin sets are evaluated with the selected format.
Fragility & transport
Protect the approved packout during packing and shipment.
The packout should limit uncontrolled movement, edge impact, surface rubbing and excessive headspace. Junmei can provide or evaluate trays, dividers, pads, liners, multilayer layouts and outer-carton protection for the approved Cookie arrangement.
Project verification can include drop, vibration and sealing tests during in-process and finished-product stages. The method, sample, stage and acceptance criteria are confirmed for the order; one universal test program or breakage result is not assumed.
- Movement Control
- Tray, divider, pad, liner and headspace reviewed against the Cookie shape and arrangement.
- Layer Planning
- Single-layer, stacked, multilayer and mixed assortments checked against usable internal height.
- Outer Protection
- Individual protection, cartons and shipment handling confirmed after the packout is approved.
- Project Tests
- Drop, vibration and sealing methods selected with defined samples and acceptance criteria.
Food contact, moisture & window
Review contact, grease, crumbs, moisture and the window together.
Junmei supports food-safe custom Cookie tin packaging within the material, coating, contact and document scope confirmed for the project. Direct-contact cookies and products sealed in an inner bag have different coating, liner, cleanliness and documentation requirements. Greaseproof paper, liners, paper cups or a custom insert can also help manage contact, crumbs and presentation.
Most Junmei tin formats are designed for reliable lid fit and strong moisture protection, especially for food packaging. If strict airtight performance is required, define the contents, closure, use conditions and acceptance method, then confirm the appropriate verification route.
Review quality controls and project-document scope →Match tinplate, inner coating, liner, intended use, target market and supporting documents.
Evaluate the tin and inner bag together rather than assuming the tin alone controls shelf life.
PP, PVC, acrylic or other commonly used transparent materials may be evaluated with the opening structure, contact arrangement, light exposure and sealing target.
Print, finish & repeat orders
Coordinate decoration and seasonal versions with the structure.
Junmei evaluates CMYK or Pantone spot-color printing, varnish, metallic effects, embossing, debossing and window placement against the selected tin, forming areas and artwork. Seasonal programs can include multiple artwork versions and later repeat orders.
Approved samples or color references are retained and used for artwork-version and production-color comparison. This supports batch consistency while final color standards, tolerances and retained-reference details remain project-specific.
Commercial planning & RFQ
Plan MOQ, samples and production from a complete Cookie brief.
Starts from 3,000 pieces. Final MOQ depends on size, structure, printing requirements, artwork versions, liner or insert and tooling.
Typically ready in 3–7 working days after specifications and artwork are confirmed. A physical Cookie, packout trial, custom liner, tooling or special finish can change the sampling plan.
Typically about 25 days after the required sample or artwork approval and order confirmation. Shipping time is not included.
Prepare your brief
Send enough information to check the format and packout. With these inputs, Junmei can compare relevant formats and identify what still requires internal-space, protection, material, tooling or testing confirmation.
Use the Tin Box Design Guide for artwork preparation, or send the project brief when your requirements are ready.
