Mint packaging specification guide

How to Specify a Pocket Mint Tin for Repeated Use

Mint tins are small, frequently handled packages. The right format depends on piece count, carry profile, lid movement, contact system and print wear—not simply the outside length and width. Use this guide to define the real packout and user interaction before Junmei recommends a current mold or custom direction.

01

Define the mint, piece count and carry scenario.

Provide the mint or small-candy type, dimensions, count, unit wrapping and target fill. State whether the tin will be carried in a pocket or bag, displayed at checkout, used as a refill pack or included in a promotional set.

The carry scenario affects depth, edge feel, lid security and opening frequency. Product formula, shelf life and storage validation remain the responsibility of the customer or filling partner.

02

Calculate usable space around the real pieces.

Outside dimensions do not equal usable internal space. Rolled edges, seams, corner radii, hinge components, slide tracks and lid engagement reduce the final envelope. Loose pieces also settle differently from wrapped or paper-lined units.

Send product samples or accurate piece dimensions. Junmei can compare the packout with current formats and identify whether a liner, paper, cup, tray or insert changes the required depth.

03

Choose hinged, slide or slip lids by use.

Hinged lids keep the lid attached and support repeated access. Slide tins create a compact opening sequence, while slip lids offer a simple two-piece format. Each structure has different formed areas, tolerances, packing behavior and decoration interfaces.

Junmei can check lid fit, opening and closing, and the interaction between closure and print. Final feel is confirmed on samples; no fixed cycle count or absolute wear grade is promised without a defined project test.

04

Match direct contact and inner packaging to the product.

Mints may be packed in direct contact with a project-selected tin or with an inner bag, liner, paper, tray, cup or insert. Tinplate, inner coating, accessory materials and supporting documents are confirmed for the contents and target market.

Good lid fit and moisture resistance do not make every pocket tin hermetic. A strict sealing requirement needs a selected structure, test method and acceptance criteria.

05

Protect artwork at handling and movement points.

CMYK or Pantone spot-color printing, varnish, metallic effects, embossing and debossing are evaluated against the lid, hinge, slide track, seams and stacking contacts. Frequently handled tins should place critical graphics away from predictable abrasion areas where practical.

Project checks can cover print alignment, lid fit, opening and relevant wear interfaces. Approved samples or color references support artwork-version and repeat-order comparison.

06

Coordinate filling, unit packing and transport.

Junmei usually supplies empty tins and can also assess packing or final-sealing support for suitable orders. Confirm who fills the mints, adds any paper or liner, closes the tin, applies labels and packs the cartons.

Individual protection, carton orientation and dividers should prevent surface rubbing or unintended opening. Project-specific drop or vibration checks are defined for the approved packout when required.

07

Send a complete pocket-tin brief.

MOQ

Starts from 3,000 pieces. Final MOQ depends on size, closure, printing, artwork versions, accessories, packing and tooling.

Samples

Typically ready in 3–7 working days after specifications and artwork are confirmed. Closure trials, inserts, finishes or new tooling can change the plan.

Bulk Production

Typically about 25 days after required sample or artwork approval and order confirmation. Final timing depends on quantity, versions, structure and packing.

Send the mint type, piece size/count, direct-contact or inner-pack direction, preferred lid, pocket/carry scenario, artwork, quantities, target market, packing and delivery requirement. Junmei will identify what still requires fit, closure, material, tooling or test confirmation.
