How to Shortlist a Tin Format for Your Project
A catalog image is a starting point, not a finished packaging specification. Begin with what you are packing, then narrow the external size, shape, lid behavior, decoration and order plan. Use the application index when product protection and loading come first, or the shape index when footprint and shelf presentation are already defined.
Start with the product, then narrow the structure.
- 01Product Use & Loading
Tea, coffee, cookies, cosmetics, gifts and promotional kits do not load or protect in the same way. Note whether the contents use an inner bag, tray, divider or direct contact, and whether the pack must stack, ship as a set or present on shelf.
- 02External Dimensions & Target Capacity
Tin dimensions describe the container; they do not guarantee a fill weight. Share the product dimensions, filling method, inner pack and target capacity so that clearance can be reviewed. Verified dimensions are shown where available; other references require a format shortlist before quotation.
- 03Shape & Footprint
Round formats can suit canister-style packs, while rectangular and square tins may support different shelf, carton and presentation needs. Special-shaped tins require closer review of forming limits, artwork placement and tooling.
- 04Lid & Internal Structure
Options such as slip lids, hinged lids, inner-lid structures, windows and inserts change opening behavior, moisture protection, presentation and manufacturing feasibility. Confirm the functional requirement before deciding the decoration.
- 05Existing Format or New Tooling
Junmei reviews a relevant catalog format first. The factory then confirms whether its dimensions, forming limits and lid structure can support the brief, whether an adjustment is practical, or whether project-specific tooling should be evaluated.
Commercial planning
MOQ, samples and production
Starts from 3,000 pieces. Final MOQ depends on size, structure, printing requirements and tooling.
Typically ready in 3–7 working days after specifications and artwork are confirmed. Complex tooling or special finishes are reviewed separately.
Typically about 25 days after the required sample or artwork approval and order confirmation. Shipping time is not included.
Carton quantity, protection method, net/gross weight and shipment details are confirmed for the selected format and delivery plan.
Food packaging & quality
How Are Food Use, Sealing Performance & Documents Reviewed?
For food packaging projects, Junmei matches the tinplate, inner coating, contact conditions and available documentation to the intended use and target market. Food-safe custom tin packaging is available for applicable projects within that confirmed scope.
Most Junmei tin formats are designed for reliable lid fit and strong moisture protection, especially for food packaging applications. Treat airtight as a project-specific performance requirement, not a default label for every tin.
Review quality controls and available documents →Depending on the product, performance can be reviewed through lid-fit inspection, air-leak testing, a customer-specified protocol or third-party testing.
Project checks can cover material preparation, print and surface appearance, dimensions, edge quality, lid fit, cleaning and packing.
FDA-related reports and project-based testing support are available for applicable projects; relevance is checked against the intended use, target market and stated report or test scope.
Prepare your brief
What should you send for a useful format recommendation?
Include the following information in your project brief.
With these inputs, Junmei can compare relevant catalog formats, identify the points still requiring confirmation and prepare a clearer format and tooling review before quotation.
Use the Tin Box Design Guide for artwork and structure preparation, or continue to the project brief when your requirements are ready.
